Here are a couple of quick questions for you BM 806D2 fans:
1. Was the plain edge version ever sold in the black box?
2. Are there any differences between 806D2's sold in blue versus black boxes?
3. Were there any updates of changes to the knives as they were produced through the years?

Thanks in advance...

I could be wrong, but they may have gone from blue boxes to black since Benchmade may have felt the 806D2 is more oriented towards their military/LEO series.

i have had 2 and they were both in blue boxes.

*not that i know of, all i have seen were in blue.

*i have never heard of an economy model 806 if thats what ya mean.

*the 1st ones were tip up right hand only, then they were tip up/RH-LH optional, thenj they started with holes in all 4 corners IIRC, as far as i know thats all the changes on the 806.

Mine were from before the coloured classes came. But i guess they were.

There were 806D2s with the new Butterfly. The Butterfly changed with the upcomming colour classes.

The clip looked different.

AFAIK the 800 liner lock was updated to the 804 (M2 blade) and after that to the 806D2 axis with all clip positions and than finish!

I had an 806 in D2 with the BK1 coating, which was the last version they offered before discontinuing it, and I'm fairly certain it came in a blue box.
