Did these guys ever test an HI khukuri...

I don't believe they have. I'd love to see it too. Maybe Yangdu should send him a Chiruwa AK... and a challenge. ;)

It's funny to me that one of their higher-rated knives required sharpening, and didn't fare too well in several cutting tasks... but BOY could it support body weight and be used to split concrete.

Cause who really uses knives of that size for CUTTING?

They had a Cold Steel Kukri machete. Does that count? :) Nooo ...
I couldn't get past the music and the hockey mask.

Interesting site...

I know ShooterMike who reviews swords for SBG Forums, I have my eye out for a villager Tarwar or similar for him to test. Many of HI's swords would fit nicely in SBG's <$300 market.

What do you say we send them an Chiruwa AK? I'llthrough in $20.00 towards the knife. Anyone else? Yangdu can ship it directly to them......lets do it!!!!

I've been thinking about picking up an HI khuk one of these days--a matter of "when" not "if." I think it'd be pretty neat to see an HI in action, would make me want one even more :D

OT but mPisi, what is your icon of?

I just got an Email from Thomas at Knifetests.com and he said he would love to test an Ang Khola!
Lets pitch in and sent him one! I'll give $20....come on lets do this....who else is in?

I'm a poor starving college student. If I had $20 to spend on this, I'd save it so I can buy one for ME. ;)

I hope this happens though, I'd love to see what it takes (if it's even possible!) to kill a Chiruwa.

Well, I'm not poor and I'm sure not starving, but i'm still with you on this -- when I get up the money, the knife will be MINE, not turned over to some cutlery sadist to torment! :D

(There is a nice Chitlangi bowie DOTD right now but I've got a Salyan on the way and really have to exercoise some kind of discipline.)

Between the music, spinning sword graphics and overuse if "HARDCORE" I couldn't really push into the realm of caring about what thier impression of an HI Ang Khola is. I know that I have beaten the holy stones out of one, re sharpened it, grip taped the handle and bonded with it too much to listen to anyones negative feedback on whether or not it will cut cinderblock, hold a man upright or do any number of lameness in the hopes of getting a slice of internet fame.

I don't really care what his "impression" of an AK is, I just want to see video of one getting beaten up. It is useful to know the breaking point of a tool, even if you never remotely approach it.

It'll also be funny if he can't break it no matter what he does, which I consider a real possibility.

I hope they don't, because that would make for an even funnier video.

Mind you, I'm sick that way. When I see people doing stupid things, I say: "You know, I'm a first aid attendant, so if you get hurt... I'll laugh."

I think it would be cool to see. Uncle Bill talked about tourture testing khukuris al long long time ago. I don't think these guys would be able to break it. They could bet the edge chipped up but I doubt a properly tempered AK is not going to break much less bend at all.

I think you're probably right. Is it POSSIBLE to break a khuk? Sure. Anything that can be made by man can be unmade by man. Is it possible to break it under muscle power, even with leverage? I doubt it. I mean, they're made out of TRUCK LEAF SPRINGS, remember?

It is possible - if it is flawed - and sometimes, even at a very low rate we see HI Khukuris fail. I broke a chiruwa AK by Bura this autumn - after I had used it as my reliable beater-khuk for three or more years - it snapped at the cho while felling a small tree (sallow-thorn - hard wood) , the blade flew away and luckily did not hit anyone. I had tested it the way described on the HI-page and used it regularly for a longer period without problems or a sign of weakness.

It certainly can happen - to everything - but HI has a perfect service (even transatlantic) and Yangdu replaced it immediately. These khuks are wonderful, powerful and well built - but they are not magic.

That aside I woulod like to see that test too (of course with a flawless khuk).

Greetings from over the ocean

That site looks like "Son of Cliff Stamp rides again!"

Hi Andreas,

Was the tempreture below freezing when it snapped?

Wow, that's a hell of a pic. Lucky nobody was hurt.

I didn't mean to say they couldn't be broken. Maybe I should say I don't believe they can be broken ON PURPOSE. ;)
