Besmirching the Cold Steel name with cheap zombie slayer garbage.
Zero customer service.
Boring new knives.
Superficial marketing.
Giving loyal fans the middle finger.

Did it have to go this way?

What if Cold Steel had been sold to people that understood the brand and were committed to honoring the tried and true ways of LCT? I wonder who else might have been potential buyers. I would say the die was cast once GSM was the top bidder. They have their playbook and we are seeing it unfold before our eyes.

Maybe in a parallel universe CS fans are still enjoying being CS fans o_O

I finally reached the "acceptance" stage...

Farewell, Cold Steel...thank you for supplying us with such awesomeness as the Indian war club, Sjambok, Counter Point, American Lawman, Rajah, Chinese Warsword, Two handed great sword, Zulu Spear, Bushman and many more.

We will miss you!

Kisses,

GAGL

That would have been the ideal scenario….if CS had been sold to another visionary blade designer….someone willing to take chances and try crazy stuff. Maybe another “quirky” knife company may come along eventually but probably not anytime soon. Like someone said, at least they’re still making some models in Taiwan….for now at least.

I talked to one of the major wholesalers of knives and they don't think that much will change with Cold Steel because of the GSM move. They will probably drop some of the less popular models and that is just good business practice. As far as the Tantos go they are all staying and most are in stock except Magnum IX SanMai and plain 3V and Magnum II in 3V and Magnum XII in 3V DLC. Some changes already happened like the Warcraft Tantos but that was in the work before GSM.

I meant to ask, what CS do the Taiwan knives usually need? Sure, sucks ya can't get clips and stuff or tediously get them, but how often is the knife bad? I have between 2-5 GSM Taiwan knives that are without issue, but that part is anecdotal.

Just bought a new air lite and the grind / bevels was absolutely horrid. One side 15 one side 30. Spent 2 hours trying to even it up but I now have a regular bevel one side and the other side is twice as big just to get them close to even. Few knives I get out of the box are perfect and I wasn't expecting that, I was expecting maybe a 15 and 20 or 20 and 25 but this was truly crap. Lots of sharp edges where they shouldn't be and a gritty action. Granted for $50 I don't expect wow but I also didn't expect to grimace.

The mini tac I picked up not long ago has the same grind/ bevels problem. It's still just sitting on the corner of the Bench in shame.

I also bought a 4max scout. I kind of like it so I'm scared to try and actually sharpen it.

At least now they can remove the "warning blade is sharp" disclaimer.

I’ll just leave the Lament of the Rohirrim here, by the great JRR Tolkien. A reminder of a golden era now behind us.

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning,
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?
