So my girlfriend and i are making our first sheath. something i've wanted to do forever. its for a folder and will be a horizontal sheath like gary graley did the tutorial on. so yesterday we formed it, i was just grinding the top edge to finish it so we could start stitching. my belt grabbed it and trew it right in my water bucket ....... what do i do???/

how clean was the water in the bucket?? you might be able to put whatever you used to form it back in and let it dry again. this time since the leather is wet you might want to "Burnish" the edges of it a little, then put it aside to dry.if it is already to stitch up dye it while it is still wet,if not mark and stitch it up then dye it and put it down to dry. it all depends on how clean the water was if dirty it might be a problem . Good luck /have fun

Thank's Ray,Matt,

what happened was a fresh 60 grit belt grabbed it and sucked it right into my dust bucket.i grabbed
it out quick and put it in front of dehumidifier :) i think it may have lost a little of its form, but still holds
the folder rock solid. its our first so live and learn i guess. i'll post some cell phone pics in a few.

You wet leather to form it. Rewetting it will do no damage. Simply reform it as Ray said.

When I am making a custom sheath - I wet the sheath (using a waterbottle or sponge) multiple times.

We saved her!! it's so cool to see my better halk taking interest in something knife related!
heres a couple pics. it holds the knife rock solid and snaps in with authority.

Nice! glad to hear it is of some help! I've been traveling so much this year that I've not made a single sheath :(
and I'm getting ready to head out again, just back from a short trip this morning...
