...or did I receive my first ever defective Victorinox?

If you look at the pics, you will see what I can only call a "flat spot" on the awl, where on my older Soldiers and Pioneers the awl is sharpened all the way down.

This is my first new SAK purchase in about 10 years, and I know Vic does change the tooling from time to time, so if someone could help me, I'd appreciate. This is a new model Electrician.

Where is the flat spot? It's not clear from the photos what is concerning you. An arrow or description of the location would be helpful. Are you talking about near the tang? That's normal.

Yes sir. Near the tang. On my older models the "edge" extends down a lot further than on this one.

Thanks! I found it hard to believe it could be defective. I truly have never gotten a bad Vic.

I noticed that on my new Pioneer and wondered about it too, it appears that this would make it a far better punch now as well as just an awl.
