I've read the tales of collectors, especially hunters, losing a Buck in the field. But,did you ever lose a limited production knife in your own home?

I can't find a Buck 112 with a gold etched scene off two men in a canoe.I don't have any pictures in my file and I'm starting to wonder if I actually owned it or just dreamed about it.LOL

I've been looking for two days after I told my brother that I had one.If I'm not mistaken it was a four dot and was etched by Aurum.

Holy cow,it's murder getting old.

NOoooo...Was not me. But yes I have. After the 2014 Blade Show I had probably 75 really, really nice Rare, odd 112's in 2 heavy duty bags I used in Atlanta to transport them when they were not actually in my 3 display cases. At our annual Christmas party that December I took about 8 or 9 guests back into my bedroom to show and tell cause I was REAL proud of my collection..The only person I didn't know well was one of my granddaughter's boyfriend..I don't even remember his name now.. and when I got them back out to go to Altanta in 2015 just over a dozen were 'missing' all really high end expensive ones. A LR double 112 drop and clip point and my absolute favorite 112 a Buffalo horn, Nickel silver frame, partial chip flint blade with serrations and finger grooves. Joe had etched 'Last Custom shop 112' and it was dated about a week before the 2010 Blade Show. From the brief window it was open for a month in 2009. I was so upset I quit collecting, looking on Ebay or the forum for almost 2 years. Fortunately the BCCI put out the Copper frame 112 and I came back. But I will never forget that sinking feeling knowing some of my best were gone..

That would be terrible. I'd have a hard time not trying to find that guy. But probably wouldn't do much good as I've found out from the time I had my house broken into.

Only Buck I've got that I can't find right this minute is a Cabela's Alaskan Guide Apha hunter with stag handles. Beautiful knife. I don't think it's actually lost for good, I think it's just misplaced. Hopefully.

sorry that happened to ya Bucksway. pretty darn rotten whoever did it.

hopefully Sporting's knife is misplaced only and shows up soon for him.

I have not lost or misplaced one that I am aware of. (knock on wood)

I have, however, lost or misplaced other brands with-in the last couple years. :(
Not limited editions, SFO's or anything special, rare, and/or valuable though. (that would hurt.)

I believe you explained this incident some time ago. It's too bad some people feel the need to take from other people.

As a collector I know what's involved in pursuing your hobby. To have some one steal not only your collection but also the time you spent is disappointing.

Not limited edition but brand new in box. About a year and a half ago I was engaged to a girlfriend and had bought two new 342 vanguards as gifts for the preacher that was doing the ceremony and my best man. They were very nice looking and had them on the table ready to go as we were getting everything packed for the wedding the next day. That’s when things went crazy and she took off and the wedding was off. I went back in the house and they were gone. She said she didn’t take them and I must have misplaced them somewhere. Well I’m glad I found out then instead of later and the knives being gone told me I was fortunate to still be single. I don’t need a woman I can’t trust with knives. And she about ruined my Buck kitchen knives by leaving them in dirty dish water and they rusted bad. I polished them off but they were etched. Any how I’m glad they weren’t real expensive or rare but It’s still irritating.

Lesknife Lesknife , WOW! If I was telling the story it would go word for word, as you tell it. I did not lose any knives but she took off the day before the wedding. I did find a gem that is my currently wife and she's not going anywhere after 28 years. I do have something to be thankful for. Not some nutcase. I do remember the feeling as if I lost my best dog. Just thinking now she did swipe a 6 inch OA Italian auto my sister bought for me in Mexico and I always kept on my dresser, then one day it was gone and she was the only one in my bedroom. She denied it of course, that Nutcase!! I agree it was better to find out before getting married than after.

Yeah that’s a bad deal and I found out more later and like I said I am fortunate to find out before it was any farther along. I checked everything else in the house and that’s all that was missing. I’m really careful about who I even talk to anymore, you can’t trust many people in general but women can really put a kink in things if they decide to and they have the law on their side to start with. I’m glad you found a good wife and hope it continues for a long time.

I've lost one knife in my life, and I know how I lost it.the sheath stitching came apart and thr knife slid out of the side when the nylon came open enough ,it slid out in a familiar hunting area.

I searched for days with no luck .I wrote a letter to the knife company letting them know about their nylon sheaths and how the ditching came apart and I had lost my knife,I never asked for anything ,just a fyi to change the sheaths.

The next thing I know ,I had a parcel in my mailbox, and inside was a letter from the company apologizing for the lost knife due to the faulty sheath, which I had sent back with my letter for them to have a look at .

In the box was a brand new knife,to replace my lost knife, and a new high quality sheath to replace the nylon sheath that had come apart.

That knife company was Buck Knives ,the knife was a 110 folding hunter.

I still have the letter ,and the knife...circa 1993

Not a collector knife but I had a small buck that my parents bought me as my souvenir (sp?) from a trip to the Smokey mountains. Lost it somewhere into the transition from college to grad school to married while still in grad school. I bought a 55 as a replacement a couple years ago. The original has been gone for 20 years.

souvenier or souvenir your choice, both correct.

Not lost, but I gave away this nice Buck 105 and I do miss it! The only knives I've lost was my Official Boy Scout Knife in the early 1970's after my Grandma gave me a Buck 301. I started carrying the Buck Stockman and never figured out where I put the Scout Knife - haven't seen it since about 1973. After my Grandma passed in the late 1980's I cleaned my Buck 301 and put it away - glad I did (still have it) because the Uncle Henry and the Old Timer I bought to use everyday have both disappeared over time. Those are the only ones I can think of I've lost. OH
