Did you ever come into a situation where you had to use aour knife as a weapon? In my eyes that would be threatening or even injuring another human.

No, and I hope I never will!! That is not the reason why I am into knives.

Yes. And you bet I "threatened and injured the other human" with extreme prejudice. It's called self defense. It is not something you want to do, but when the other person forces you to, it becomes something you have to do.

But, I would much rather use my knife to cut a bagel and spread cream cheese on it.

Someone threw a pinecone right at me, I whipped out my balisong and slashed it (all while the pinecone was in coming towards me). That's the only time I have used it against something other than when it cuts up my hands.

Yes.
It was'nt against a human, but it was definitely self defence:
I once cut off the head of cotton-mouth.

Yes. Up close and personal. Got him into a position where he could either drop his weapon or feel mine. Luckily he chose the former and I didn't have to cut him.

Well, unless cutting myself, usually with my Bali, then no and I pray I never have to.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Yes, my CRKT Seahawk did the job. One look and it got very calm very quick!

No, but I came very close once. Many years ago I got into a shoving match with a fellow at a party. He grabbed the front of my shirt and slammed me up against the wall. My hand went into my coat pocket and gripped the balisong I used to carry. The whole while this guy is in my face calling me every name in the book and I'm thinking "Do I pull this or don't I?" In the end I didn't, and I'm glad. If I had, I'd have been guilty of escalating things to a much more dangerous level. As it was, we both walked away from the incident intact -- something that might not have happened had I taken that next step. I'm a firm believer that you don't pull a knife unless you intend to use it.

On vacation several years ago in Rapids City, SD, my wife and I was being 'shadowed' by a mugger. I pulled the CQC-7 from my jeans, but didn't open it. My wife ripped open the velcro on her fanny pack, but did not remove anything. We took a few steps apart from each other, as we had planned. The guy just ran off...--OKG

once when i was much younger, i was hog tied, by two older boys, they forgot to remove my pocket knife from my back pocket and i escaped when they wondered off for a bit.

another time when i was home at night two guys tried to break in, i chased them off but not with a knife, i used my 6 ft ironwood hiking staff.

well i never have, but i came close today.i was at work, and me and a co-worker were horse playing (im a guy, thats what we do....right???).anyway,he comes up to me and starts to put his hands around my throat,i yanked my knife out on reflex, flicked it open, and stopped short of stabbing him by 2 or three inches.whoo!close call, maybe i should calm down some....nah.

I was sitting in a chair watching t.v. last summer when this woman RUNS into my house crying and all begging that Idon't let this guy get her. Then the guy comes in my house! Well, he only came to just inside the doorway. He didn't pay all that much attention to me but I doubt that he missed the LTC kukri in my hand. I just happened to have it out when the woman ran in. I didn't need to threaten the guy at all. I pushed him out of my house and told him to leave. I was very calm, I think do largely from martial arts training keeping me cool but the kukri in my hand did give me some confidence! Last I heard she is doing well and I didn't need to cut anyone. That is the way problems should be resolved more often! Unfortunately, that isn' the case...

I too have only managed to cut myself and thats the way I like it. Don't need to have the hassels of cutting some one else. But wouldn't hesitate if my life was threatened. I carry just in case I need it never know when the time will come but it is better to have then whish you had it.

To Crayola:
Good thing for the guy that you live in Canada. I'm pretty easy, but once they come into the house, it's all over. I don't care what the excuse is, I would have shot the guy--repeatedly.--OKG

well... I'd prefer the scare-him-off-method... bet you would get in trouble for shooting a guy... even in the states.
