Did you keep your ZT 560 after getting XM 18?

I am considering biting a bullet and purchasing an XM-18 3.5 spanto flipper. The thing is, I already have the ZT 560 and wander if getting a similar knife that cost 3 times as much is a smart move. Will I be compelled to sell the bigger, lighter 560 or is it conceivable that they might fit different roles? How many of you have sold zt 560 after getting xm 18, how many kept both? Why?

Can't pull the trigger on the Xm-18 and I own Busses that coat far more.....just cannot reach that far for a folder. ZT is 90+% of the Xm-18.

Im sure I'll get stoned for this but WHAT does the xm-18 do for you that the 0560 doesn't?

I really never thought about getting a Hinderer until I got my 0560/0561, loved the design and feel of it so I wanted the real deal. Yes they both cut , kept all of them and do not regret it for a moment. Please let's not get into another secondary price thing or Hinderers business model. Just buy and use with what "you" are comfortable with.

The price of XM 18, although hard to swallow, is not the concern here rather the justification for keeping two knives that are similar in design. As far as I understand the Hinderer would be a bit heavier yet smaller and shorter thus better fit for my size S hands. Nonetheless, I find ZT to be comfortable to handle and I do love its smooth ball bearing action.

I don't think they're the same knife at all. The 560 has such a smooth action with the KVT bearing system, which also deploys a massive slab of super sharp ELMAX. The XM's have a blade choil and seem more compact and/or robust. Eventually you may end up with an XM as well, but until you feel that need...i would explore other mid-tech options.

I could see them having different roles. I don't have either now, but I do miss the XM-18. It was much more pocket friendly to me and just a great all around knife. Not a scalpel but it cut whatever I needed to cut. I paid $475 for it and sold it for around the same after using it. I didn't think the prices would double and thought I would be able to pick up another later. Doh.

I bought my ZT 0561 after owning a few XM-18's. Now I own one XM-18 and the ZT 0561. The XM has no flipper and has the hollow spanto grind as it is a Gen. 1. The 0561 is all about the flipper and has a high hollow grind, after a visit to Tom Krein. The knives are two different beasts entirely. I don't think I would sell either.

Ive been thinking about the same thing but just cant bring myself to do it just yet because I can get other customs for less the cost
With that said Ill probly 1 day grab a xm 18 but right now the zt0561 fits me just fine

I just bought a hinderer clone with s35v blade . I really like it I hope to buy a real hinderer some day . I have a zt560 blem and really like it. I think hinderer makes the best custom knives around. The 0560 is very nice but a little big . Looking forward to the new zt566.

The 0560 will not -

Fit the numerous XM scales.
Hinderer Standoffs.
Skull tab filler.
Steel flame frame nuts.
Be available with different blade grinds.
Be available in different sizes.
Cut stuff (just kidding)

I know, it's clutching at straws, both designed by the same bloke, both of a great quality, both great materials, both look good and are fantastic knives (IMO)

There really isnt an answer here, both will "do it" for you, your best bet is to try one, if it doesnt work out getting your money back wont be difficult.
