Evening,

I come here seeking some knowledge, as some of the OG members of this site may remember a username of “sunnyd” I would greatly appreciate your help and from anyone else who wouldn’t mind helping me out.

Well my father, sunnyd -Anthony- passed away last year and we’ve been going through a lot of his old knives..which seem to be in the hundreds possibly a little over a thousand separate pieces, some I didn’t even know he had.

If anyone has the time to look at the knives I post here and give me an idea on what are, the materiel how rare they might be and even price it would help my mom with down sizing and keeping only a few prized possessions of his as the money from these knives will be going to support her.

I’ll be posting more and more these coming weeks so stay tuned…I’m sure I dad has a little gem here somewhere.

-Update-
Uhh…how do you post pictures? I’m assuming it’s not as easy as doing it from an iPhone…

Posted the first lot of the desirables I have on hand on the first post so it’s easier to find.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I remember seeing his posts mostly in the Traditional Knives subforum. Many people use a photo hosting site to post pics here like imgur or flickr, although paid memberships can upload directly.

So I’m good now to talk about it prices with the gold membership? First pics are three Behring knives. He has many of this brand..

Gold membership? Done.

Also I appreciate the condolences but it’s been a long ish time now so it’s all good now.

On your iPhone

Use “attach files” at the bottom of the text box we type in. Choose “from library” then select the pic. Then you can “show” which picture you selected and your phone will let you resize it. I usually use “medium” if it’s a big file, and “large” if it’s not. Works for me every time.

Edit: I see you got it figured out as I hit send :thumbsup:

Those are some killer JBs! I helped a friend sell some very similar ones on ePay and they fetched a good amount. Don’t recall the amount as it was a few years ago but I recall being surprised how well they did.

I think you are far better off contacting the makers about your knives, you will likely get a wide range of values here depending on potential buyers downplaying value. Mostly you cannot expect to get retail values unless super collectable then usually more.

I'd like to think our membership here is better than that, and as far as I am concerned, have proven themselves to be so.

As for the value of those knives, it's really hard to say. A standard modern production knife off an assembly line is easier to tell. You could get a value for a used Paramilitary 2 very easily. Knives made by higher end makers, either as custom or in small production runs, have collector value that influences prices in unpredictable ways. There are certain companies (thinking of on in particular from Arizona that sells custom knives... not sure if I can say their name or not) that will likely be able to estimate the value best, and may be willing to buy a large batch all at once if you were selling.

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of your father.

Very sorry to read of your father's loss. We'd been out of touch for years, but we did a couple of trades between us way back when.

He was a valued member of this community for several years.
