That if you heat up the blade of your BK-11 in boiling water and then slide it into the piggyback pocket of a BK-9 sheath and tap it a few times with a rubber mallet it'll easily cut through the bottom and fit and have good retention? Oh I might add that the 11 was still shaving sharp. :D

Actually you probably don't need to heat it in the boiling water but I wanted to minimize the chances of shattering the plastic insert.

Wait... you're saying that you just heated up your BK11, then pounded it into the sheath made for the BK13 in the BK9 sheath? And that stretched just fine for the width, and then the BK11 just poked out the end?

Sounds like a great idea. That much heat shouldn't hurt the BK11 should it? Also, do you think it would be easier to do the other way around (Meaning, heat up the sheath in boiling water)?

And finally... PICS!

:).

Soaking a nylon sheath in boiling water, having it drip steaming hot water all over the place while you try to hold it? No way. Much easier to just heat the knife up, most knife blades are tempered at more than 400°F, so it's safe to heat them up to that point without any risk.

That's what your insert looks like.

No, not the sheath. Just the blade and I didn't remove the insert. The stitching held it in place nicely during the tapping and I didn't have to hit it too hard. I wouldn't say it stretched...at least not along the tip where I hammered it through the plastic.:D But yes, the rest just stretched.

I'll have to unclasp the 9 to remove the 11 but that's a small price to pay to carry it so conveniently.

Here it is sticking out a bit.

Sweet. Thanks for the photos man.

I'm hoping to pick up a BK9 and a BK14 (or 11, still deciding) pretty soon, and was wondering if there was an easy way to do this (Just got a ZK War Sword with a piggyback knife, and its pretty useful to always have them together).

Thanks again :).

No problem, glad to help. The BK-2 followed me scouting for elk/deer this weekend. The BK-9/11 will be with me on the actual hunt.
