Hi,

There's stuff in there I bet no one has ever seen before! Incredible workmanship.

Wow.
Any mention of a maker/manufacturer?

Reminds me of some I have seen like(frame shape) that that came out of sheffield in the last of the 19th century IIRC...

I have a knife with the same mark on the tang.
Made for and sold by Gustav Branner.

Nice find, I too wonder who got a hold of this gem.

Oh my. Now that is really something. I bet that set somebody back a dollar or two. That would look very nice in one of my drawers. Thanks for posting those pics, Pappy!

Eat your heart out, Wenger! Their recent exhibition knives are a joke compared to that thing.

What I really want to see is one of the old Sheffield exhibition knives with 175 or 200+ blades I've read about. I wonder if any of those have survived? If they have, they're probably languishing in the basements of museums somewhere, I reckon.

They are still around (at least from the semi recent pictures in the book - Sheffield Exhibition Knives that was published a few years ago.)

If you can get one of those books at a reasonable price, I highly suggest that it be snagged. It has provided a lot of inspiration to quite a few makers (not to mention a few knives of some of the trad. forum members.)

Pappy, thanks for posting those. I love looking at them as well as the sportman's knives (Parker, smilingknife and others have posted here.)

The problem I see with this is: "What the heck is this blade for?" would be the most common question that would be asked of the owner. Just how would you answer that?
Very good looking pictures, thanks for posting Pappy
