Did you see the two blade 110/112?

Somebody put together a knife with a 110 and a 112 blade. I saw it on ebay and the only problem I saw was that the 112 blade was behind the 110. That wouldn't have been a problem if the nail nick was on the other side. It was advertised as a rare collectable. It looked to me like something someone did after a long lunch.
I could be wrong, but I thought I saw one on this forum that was done right. I think it had mirror polished blades and stag scales with silver bolsters. MuscratMan may have done it but I'm not sure. If anyone has that picture, it would surely be a pleasure to see it again.
By the way, is this something that would be done in the Buck custom shop or by a knifesmith?

Buck made these knives for smokey mountain knife works...

They had first/last production etched versions, and recently one etched with words from Ronald Reagan, and I believe there was an unetched version too... (maybe it was a 100 year one?)

well picker ... by every measure short of holding in hand ..
it was the real thing..
there is information concerning the assumbility of the knife that matches what was done them...
i had 9 high res images of all details as well as some one at buck ..
and it sure seemed real to me and them...
and the three high bidders exceed 350$ seemed to know it also..
seller was a sailor ... not far from here...
he has another knife on sale now...
also rare arum etch on reverse side
the guy takes good picts... found the knife along with other rare bucks in a pawn shop in vagus

I remember the story about the pawn shop in Vegas. I also saw the knife on ebay. I just can't believe Buck would build a knife that was assembled ass backward. If you put the 112 in front of the 110 it would work perfectly.

From The Goose Collection...excuse me, I mean "Accumulation" :)

what you mean there ...
hay i was always told :
if it walks like a duck sounds like a duck and has a long neck...oh wrong line...

i think you had it right the first time ... the Goose Collection!!!
only the best make it here! :D:thumbup:

I would love to see a two blade 110, but the second blade should be a flat-tip electrician's blade.
That would totally rock!!!

Is that auction over??? It would be interesting to see the pics... :)

There was a thread a couple years back, now buried in the archives, where a mangler here (no, not me) made a 2-blade 110/112. IIRC, he did have them in the correct order, so you could pop them out. I thought it was a neat thing to do (it didn't have the dorky emblem either). A couple of others since then have made them (including me, this time); it's not all that difficult. (If you can swap a 110 blade, you can make it a 2-blade). ;)

The really cool 2-blade 110's have the clip-point and the drop point together. :D Or a 426 and a 442 blade together.

(There's an example of each of those in the Tailgate thread)

Yeah, the auction is over. I don't think you can post anything while an auction is active.

That's true. But you can link to completed auctions.

I tried Searching eBay for it, but their Search engine is a POS at the moment... :grumpy:

It appears to me that the blades are in the correct order, but the 112 blade simply lacks a nail nick. The older 112 blades did indeed lack the nail nick and this just may be one of those blades as I cannot detect a year mark on it. The 110 is also an early blade. In fact, all the components of the entire knife appear to be of early manufacture. Can anyone make an educated guess as to the version/variation? This could be sometime really rare/unusual for its time period.

Nope, they are definitely not the same. In addition to the blade difference previously pointed out by NDIT, look also at the handle rivets. The one that has already sold only has two, while the current listing has three.

over the years quite a number of two blade hunter's / ranger 's
and combos have been made.
there are parts that HAVE to be made by hand to tight spec's.
the time it takes to do so by a friend at the plant had VERY high trade value so
there were not to many that would do so much to earn one in trade!
the high value one sold before is a extremely early one, in fact the earliest i have seen!
