I was just cleaning up my cupboard and found a Brand new Delica ZDP189 that I had completely forgotten about .
It was lucky I found it , I was throwing out some old Spyderco boxes And luckily realised that one box was heavier than the rest .
I do remember now why I bought this knife , I blade swapped my original ZDP into my Titanium Delica and
thought I'd better get another one so that I still had a FRN ZDP .
The blade swap was so successful I never used or unwrapped the new FRN one and quickly forgot about it .
This has started my day off nicely , and to celebrate , I've just ordered an Orange handled Delica which I think I'll blade swap with my new find .:)

Or... You could send it to me! I'll even send you my regular delica in trade 😉

Are you swapping a hap 40 into the green handle? If so I'll take it!

Congrats on the find. I will however ask why you would toss your boxes? I know that for me I will not buy a knife on the second hand market unless it has the box and papers. If I do buy one without it would have to be significantly cheaper than one with box and documentation. I'm sure there are people that don't sell their knives so the boxes mean nothing but you never know and to most hard core Spyderco fans, or any brand at that, the box and papers make the knife more valuable, even if it's a user it will still bring more money and attract a broader audience with box and papers. Just wondering. To each his own.

I fall into the category of " I never sell knives " :)
My knives are purely users and only buy if I will carry and use it , because of that most of my Spyderco's are of the cheaper variety and I have modified every single one in some way to suit my requirements which would reduce their value anyway.
Now that I've said all that , I must admit that I have kept a couple of boxes that came with my more expensive Spyderco's , why I don't exactly know.

I never kept packaging until I started acquiring knives. To that end, I have all my Spyderco boxes. If I buy knives in clam packaging I just throw that away.

My knives are users as well, so I really don't have a "need" to keep the boxes, but for some reason I feel it's part of the Spyderco experience.

My wife, who is OCD, hates empty boxes stacked up in the closet. But I don't care....

I've got a few boxes laying around but I usually toss them. As to the question of lowering the value of the knife, all of mine are users. I've only sold a few and they've all gone to people who were also going to use them. I've never sold one to anyone who was worried about the box.

On topic: Nice find Harronek. Glad you did throw THAT box away! :D
