A while back I wrote about my deer hunting and the gutting of my deer with my 42. I just got done reading that thread again and it sounds like some think it is an amazing feat to gut a deer and still have the knife hair shaving sharp when you are done. I don't want to mislead anyone here, so I will tell you that all that is involved in gutting a deer is a 12 inch cut to spill the guts and a couple more cuts to qet the wind pipe and the lungs out. Any knife of half way decent quality should perform this task, and come though it shaving sharp.

I actually prefer an edge that is not shaving sharp. A rougher edge cuts through matterial more efficeint. The rough edge kind of works as a saw.

We've been mislead!!!

Why note try the BM42S (serrated)?

My guess is not enough of the blade is serrated. I have thought about getting a plain edge and having it fully serrated, would look cool

and be functional for many cutting purposes, but also would be cash that I don't have right now

A serrated blade would make a real mess of things. A clean cut seems to be most efficient. I don't think there are many fully serrated scalpels in use in hospitals.

Doubt is an uncomfortable condition,
but certainty is a ridiculous one.

I don't think he's doing heart surgery on the deer, just ripping it's guts out. It is a good thing that the doctor's instruments are not serrated.

I thought it sounded like a neat adventure and the fact that a bali accompanied him was even better! Don't think of it as bragging, more like feeding the collective thought!

Bravo, enjoyed the story. Look forward to more.
