I just left my local knife store. I had come in thinking about buying a new knife that has just come out. The model doesn't matter and there was nothing wrong with the knife. I just looked at it and realized that it was very similar to other knives I already own and it would serve no useful purpose to me either as a tool or as an object in my collection. Like most knife collectors, I long ago bought all the cutlery I would ever need, but new pieces can be nice upgrades or simply be unique enough to buy as curios,
however, since I live close to an excellent cutlery shop, my level of purchasing has exponentially for the last few years. As I said a few posts back, I have decided to focus more on high quality pieces, if for nothing else, just to save space. Along those lines, I made tentative plans to buy a Sebenza late this spring, and I recently got a William Henry. Therefore, you can see I have not given up collecting. I have, however, moved in the direction of being a lot selective (finally) and it feels nice.
