I'm sure you guys can tell me the difference between a 110 and a 111...is it just the bolsters?

Yep that's it. Oh and the tang is stamped 111 and not 110;)

Here is a few 110's

JB,

Tell me more about the 111 with what looks like a snakeskin scale?
Is that custom done by someone? Surely Buck did not do that?

Hi LB & Harry,

This 111 started as a Buck limited edition with a Idaho state blade cut out. Then it was customized by Michael Prater (Painted Pony). This is a proto type knife and is marked as such. The scales are Rattle snake skin sealed in clear resin, the frame, bolsters and blade also have art work by Michael.

I already had the belt buckle so I had to have this knife when I saw it. There have been a few more of these made and they do pop up on ebay from time to time. If a person was so inclined they could contact Michael at "Painted Pony Designs"; do a web search, and have him make one.

Are they stretched over the underlying wood??? Kinda hard to find a rattler with 1/8" thick skin... :D

...But they are delicious... :p

Day-em!!! 438 pics???

Who is T. Ward & Bros???

Hi Richard,

That snake had very thick skin....that is after the clear resin coating was put on top of it. No wood at all. Yep Rattle snake is very tasty....like chicken, my Mom used to use shake & bake on it:thumbup:.

438...what can I say...I'm a Pack Rat....sorry Ratty...LOL (a lot of multiple pic's of the same item).

The Ward Brothers (Lem & Steve) hand carved Duck decoys....Willey Knives had a set of three buck knives made to commemorate their work

Do a web search for Willey Knives.

Is that like the clear stuff they put on the top of bars to encase pennies in???

(Bars as in beer, babes, loud music, etc)

I've wondered how long it took that stuff to dry...and if you brushed it on, or poured it...

They had a contest at the local bar to commemorate the new resin coated bar...count the pennies in the resin and you got a prize...that was years ago...I forget what the prize was... :(

Thanks for the pics.

J-B,

You will like the 111. They are very common on ebay these days. SMKW has a few 111 special order knives on their current web site. Post a photo for us when you have your's.

JB,

I waded thru your photos on Photobucket yesterday. Wow! I would sure like to meet your wife! How she let you get all these knives sure indicates an understanding woman to say the least. On the other hand, maybe you sneak them in under the cover of darkness??? Fantastic collection for sure!

One big and nice difference between the 110 and 111 is the silver nickel bolsters on most 111's....

I ordered from knifesupply.com. I've never used them before, but they were $10 cheaper than newgraham. Do you guys know about knife supply?

Well Harry,

It's like this one comes in the front door and one comes in the back door;). If it's a big buy ($$$) I ask her first. She can't understand why a body needs more than one knife....so I open her closet and say what about all these shoe's?...LOL.

She asked me "JB, what do you want for Xmas"....:D. "Buck knives", I said!!! She said, "I hate that because I don't know what to get" and "it makes me feel bad to give you money"...."No surprise and money is an empty gift". One year...I think it was last year she got a hold of one of our forum brothers here and surprised me with a buck I had no idea about. She is the best; I'm a lucky man to have her.

But, this month I'll be in the dog house when she see's the paypal draws...LOL. However, I will have some new photo's to post;):D:rolleyes:.
