Hi,

I noticed Admiral Steel offers both cold rolled annealed and hot rolled annealed ATS-34.

What's the difference?

Any difference in machinability? Drilling? Performance of the steel? Affects during heat treating?

By the way, how much should you pay for surface grinding a piece of ATS-34 (5/32" x 1-1/2" x 36")?

Thanks!

Hot rolled has mill scale on it and cold roll is clean, has no scale, no difference in how it works that I can tell.
Not sure about the price of surface grinding. If I didn't have a surface grinder I would just buy precision ground stock in the thichness I needed.

Cold rolled will have more precise dimensions also. Precision ground material has the most precise dimensions and has decrbed material removed.
