Hello, first post to this forum, I hope it is appropriate.

I have a Stainless Steel bladed Boker Barlow model 494. The tree on the bolster is made up of thin lines.

Here is another 494 from the same era, 70's, also with Delrin Scales with 2 pins, steel center liner, brass outer liners, but it has a Fat Tree, and Carbon Steel blades.

Can anyone tell me whether the Fat Tree is a confirmation that the 494 is Carbon Steel.

Also, the Fat Tree 494 pictured is from another site that claims it is German Made. Can anyone confirm if that is accurate?

thanks!

Hi,
I'm looking into the carbon steel/stainless part, and will let you know. There is no one here from that long ago, so I need to dig through old catalogs.
I can't see a tang stamp on the pictured knife, but unless it says Boker USA, it is safe to assume it is German in origin.

Thank you!

Neither of the knives pictured say Boker USA, the only tang mark is 494
