Difference between leather thickness on several vintage Schrade 171UH Sheaths?

Difference between leather thickness on Schrade 171UH Sheaths?
I have several Schrade 171UH Sheaths and there is a big difference in leather thickness in the sheaths.
Several of my knives arrived without sheaths so owning a saddle shop I'm going to clone these in the heavier leather as soon as I come up with a donor sheath.
Anyone else notice this anomaly?

I have noticed this via images on the net, and the only thing I can imagine would be Schrades use of different contractors through the years?
Post images of your sheath when you get it made. :cool:
