difference between "sages"

Locking mechanism and handle material. The blade shape of the Sage 3 is also very slightly modified from the first two generations.

Since the Sage series is meant to honor different lock designs and their designers each has a different lock and handle material. The Sage I sports the Walker Liner Lock and carbon fiber scales. The Sage II has a Reeve Integral Lock or frame lock and is all titanium. The Sage III wears a Blackie Collins bolt action lock with blue G-10.

Many of the Sage reviews on Youtube mention the key differences between the Sages. Some reviewers even do a side-by-side comparison of two of the models. I'm not aware of any reviewers than compare all three though.

Just to add; Although the sage 3 is is g-10, it is textured to look like FRN as a tribute to Blackie Collins.

Mostly it's fairly apparent. ;)

Yablanowita nailed it with the pictures!

1. Michael Walker Liner Lock with CF handle scales.
2. Chris Reeve Integral Lock [Frame Lock] made from Ti.
3. Blackie Colllins Bolt Action Lock, blue g10 w/full backspacer.

All amazing knives!

They sure as hell are... I want that 3

I haven't bought a Sage 1 (yet), but I have a 2 and a 3. They're very nicely made from high quality materials, and the size and ergos are great. I've really gotten to like the Sage 3. It's like a Manix 2, but a little smaller - just a great knife.
