I am considering adding a Swisstool to my collection, finally. I am not sure what all of the nomeclatures entail, I.E. RS/Spirit/X. Anybody able to break it down for me or know of a resource that lists the differences?

Well first off the SwissTool and the SwissTool Spirit are two completely different tools. The Spirit is a lighter weight version of the swisstool. The Swisstool has a ruler on the outside and is a heavy duty tool. The Spirit lacks the ruler and is slimmer and lighter.

As for the different versions, CS, RS, S, X, and original. The Swisstool comes in normal, CS, RS or X. The Spirit comes in normal, S, X or.

The Sprit has all the same tools on all 3 versions except for the blade. the orignal has a fully serrated sheepsfoot blade and a pair of scissors. the S has the fully serrated sheepsfoot blade and a spearpoint plain edge blade but lacks scissors. The X Has the spearpoint plain edge blade and scissors but no sheepsfoot blade.

The Swisstool again the variations are the blade. The original swisstool has no scissors but has a serrated blade and a plain blade. the RS has a rescue blade in place of the file which is a serrated hawk bill blade with no point on it, a spear point plain edge blade and scissors. The X again has a plain edge spearpoint blade and scissors. The CS seems to be the same as the X but comes with their ratchet set.

So if you need heavy duty get the swisstool, if you need medium duty get the swisstool spirit. the rest is up to what blade configuration you want.
