so I have a question. Beside the tactical look, what is the difference between the ZT line and the standard Kershaw line? I am just really curious.

Thanks!

the ZT line is the military spread for kershaw. The folders are really beefy, its a kershaw manix if that helps. I havent had any experiences with the fixed blades but im sure they are the same way.

Zero Tolerance are "Professional Use" knives.

Strong and Beefy. Typical excellent Kershaw fit and finish.

I just now took a look at the ZT web-site, and I REALLY like the 300 series!...I really, really wish I had the money to buy one of those...

I wouldn't call them "professional use" because, to me, they are specifically designed for military, law enforcement, & emergency professionals or those in similar extreme use situations. I think many regular line Kershaws could fill the bill with the same professionals, or other professionals outside those specific areas. One thing is certain... they are BEEFY, HEAVY DUTY TACTICAL TOOLS, not something that could also be used to open presents at the office xmas party:)

I have a ZT 301

I think it is an amazing value. I picked it up at a sale for ~$170. It is huge and beefy, I love the texture and DLC coating on the Ti framelock side. The pocket clip is small and tip up or tip down. The AO is powerful. Overall I love this knife. Strider + Onion = Awesome!!

Another nice little difference is this -

"We are proud to partner with the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) as we introduce Zero Tolerance (ZT) Combat Knives.
A portion of the proceeds from every sale of these high-quality, combat-ready knives will be donated to the PVA Heritage Fund, which advocates on behalf of the veterans who have given so much in service to their country."

From the ZT - About Us Page

I have the Aluminum and G10 Kershaw Offsets, amazing really solid knives, I also have a ZT 0301 and it's even beefier and more solid if that's possible.

I lusted after a 301/302 after seeing one at Blade in '06. Since that time I purchased other Kershaws but never got around to the 300 due to price. Not saying it wasn't worth it but I never seemed to have the spare cash.

I finally got one last week.

I'm **very** happy with the Lahar, JYDII and Cyclone but the ZT is on a whole other level. BEEFY and built like a bank vault. I've never seen a Strider folder that ever fit me but this collaboration worked out well for the features I like.

I've owned both a Skirmish and Manix - two other commonly seen beefy folders. The Skirmish never felt comfortable. The Manix was a fine knife but a friend like it more so - off to him. The ZT? I LIKE this one!

It has got me thinking more and more about one of the 200 series.

I'm still waiting on a reply from the pharmacy, and maybe you guys (Thomas W in particular) can help. I'm looking for a ZT 300-TAD...the same as the rest of the 300 series, but in all black. Anyone know if this is still available?

What is the pharmacy that you keep referring to? I'm sure its a nickname to an online retailer, but why not say their name?

i really cant wait to own one and compare now that you said that kneedeep

I recently, had the chance to check out the ZT301 at a shop and in my opinion the ZT line is in another league when compared to other Kershaw products. The frame lock was super solid, the frame lock held so tight to the tang of the blade locked open that it took some effort to release the lock on the blade and close it.On my ZDP-189 Mini-cyclone,that another story, the frame lock is not locked or wedged tightly against the tang like the 301 and can be easily be pushed to the other side of the handle.Thumb stud opening of this assisted opening knife is super smooth, took only a small nudge of the thumb compared to my ZDP-189 Mini-cyclone w/Titanium Framelock which doesn't alway open as easily.I really do regret buying my ZDP-189 Mini-cyclone which has a MSRP of $250 compared to the ZT301 $295
