Difference in 42's?

I got my 42-S Wed. and noticed a big difference in the tang pins. The 42-AS I already had, has a rounded tang pin, and the 42-S has a "squared-off" tang pin. It almost looks as if it was ground off somehow. Did it miss some part of the finishing procedures at Benchmade?

Another thing, the back (Side w/out torx head) of the handle pins on both my knives sit differently from one another. The one on the bite handle sits farther out, making it look like it's not seated properly. Its the same on both knives, so what's wrong, if anything?

BTW, what size torx bits are used for the handle and latch pins. I have down to #10, but even thats too big.

Thanks in advance, your input is most appreciated.

The pivot pin heads are T-8, and the latch pin head is T-6. However, the pins are actually pressed in, with the screwed-on part being more of a backup (and a way to adjust the tension). If you plan on removing hte pins, you will need a press of some sort....

P.S., I think the bite handle is just slightly different compared to the safe handle, so they seat different distances in.

Talk to Travis @ Benchmade. He was very helpful with mine.

I bought mine a week or so ago.

One handle was more wobbly than the other.
I could only tighten one down all the way where it would not move.
One screw was less "counter-sunk" than the other.
The latch had some minor pitting.

I know less than nothing about Bali's, so I called/pestered him.

He was very patient and helpful.
I just got it back today FEDEX. He didn't even charge the FEDEX acct# I gave him.

The knife looks/feels wonderful.

I'll let you know if anything else is amiss when I have a chance to look at it at home....

Thanks, for a while I thought it was just me. I thought about geting the handles tight might be a problem if the torx head reached the end of its travel befor geting the handle tight. But since I don't have a #6 or 8 torx bit, thats not an issue yet. It might be tomarrow though. I'm stoping by the local hardwear store on my way to work. Knowing the sizes helps a great deal, thank you.
