Difference in woods?

Just curious if there is any long term difference in the more expensive wood inlays? I have a bocote and spalted beechwood but both were 50$ cheaper than say a box elder burl... curious if there is any difference in quality or is it just the looks alone that make them a bit pricier?

Box Elder has always been more expensive than the other commonly offered wood inlays.
That's not including the limited wood inlay offers.

Just wondering if it's something that stands up to time better or not. The bocote I have doesn't seem weak by any means but I could see a possibility of it chipping if I dropped it the wrong way

I have caried both a Box Elder and a Tamboti sebenza as an EDC blade. I noticed no difference in durability. Both are still looking great, and the inlays have proven to be very tough. If Photobucket hadn't decided to hold all my forum post picture links ransom, I'd share some links concerning long-term use, but alas......
