I was reading this Victorian Control of Weapons Regulation, and came across two classes of weapons. (This applies to where I live, which is Melbourne)
Prescribed weapons, which is pretty much illegal to have.
Regulated weapons, which is not illegal but will have to have a reason for carrying it (not self-defence).
And came across this:
under Prescribed weapons-
(a) "flick knife": which means a knife designed or adapted so that the blade is concealed when folded or recessed into the handle and which opens by gravity or centrifugal force or by any pressure applied to a button, spring or device in or attached to the handle of the knife;
and under Regulated weapons-
(f) knives which are designed or adapted so that the blade is concealed by a plastic, wooden or metal sheath which retracts into the handle of the knife by gravity or centrifugal force or by any pressure applied to a button, spring or device in or attached to the handle of the knife, including the knife commonly known as the "Black Eagle Knife";
So the basic difference is one flicks open and the other flicks close. Would anyone have links or photos of examples of these two types of knifes?
Thanks heaps!!
