I just got a #85 in the mail today..... been looking for a Northfield clip point for a while. Lo and behold, GEC had the coffee house acrylic for sale on their site. They're probably the least popular covers, but I love GEC's acrylic. Anyway, I was comparing it to my other #85, which is a Northfield spear point in cocobolo. The cocobolo has 2011 on the tang stamp and the coffee house 2012..... something I found odd considering it's 2014 and it's actually on the GEC website, even listed as a top seller. Maybe left over parts? The other difference is that the pen blade is on opposite sides of each knife. Is this a standard practice of GEC?
I have 2 #12 ' s and they are set up with the main blade on the mark side. I have a #78 and the main blade is on the pile side. None of this affects the function or aesthetics for me, it's just observation.
Also, my #89 has only 1 back spring and no half stop on the pen blade. Another member (2dead) has the same knife and his has 2 springs, main blade rides both and pen rides 1, with a half stop.
Anybody else notice any differences among the same model? I know quite a few of you have a lot of the same one!
