I have a Stryker and keep hearing great things about the Emerson CQC-7. However, they look very similar to me. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

The Emerson CQC-7 has a Chisel Grind (One side is completely flat) while the Stryker does not. The CQC-7 is probably a little stonger because of this design, but you probably couldn't break either easily, nor one easier than the other. I find the Styker to be easier in some cutting situations because it doesn't have the chisel grind, but most of the time the CQC-7 is fine! I persoanlly own 5 CQC-7 (2 Emerson's and 3 Benchmades)and 2 Ravens with the chisel grind blade and 3 Stykers. I would carry any of them anywhere....Hope this helps

The Stryker is much more ergonomic IME. The slightly dropped butt allows for a more natural point. The almost completely recessed liner release is less prone to unintentional unlocking, especially when twisting in medium. The ample finger choil is most thruster friendly as it will minimize the finger(s)/ hand from sliding forward towards the blade. BM' s action and lockup, at least for this model, is sure and swift. And finally for those concerned about blade to handle ratio, the Stryker packs more blade in its handle than the CQC series. And although I don' t hold tanto configurations in high regard for utility, the Strykers double grind is a bit more usefull.
