Differences between SHSH and SHSH II

Having missed on the HR, I've been looking through the photographs of Busses here on the forum, and my heart stopped when I noticed SHSH. I then understood why I'd missed on the HR - it's because my real love was still waiting for me. :D

Anyway, I've RTFMed and searched, and I understand some early SHSH II had A2 steel instead of INFI, but I am still not clear on the differences between the SHSH and SHSH II. Any kind soul can help me with the differences?

The difference is about $300 - $400. Seriously, the SH1 blades are made from ATS34, are shorter and wider. SHIIs have a few different versions and lots of combinations, both in blade material (A2 and INFI), handle styles, rivet types and differences in the handle ends.

So the SH1 is $300-$400 cheaper than the INFI version of the SH2? What about SH1 vs. A2 SH2?

I don't suppose for that kind of price I will be running out and buying the INFI SH2 any time soon, but I am still curious to know.

I wish, no, the SH1 is $300 - $400 more than a SHII which are $400 - $550.

youve got it backwards my friend. if you're lucky enough to even see a SH1 come up for sale, i havent seen one for less than $850. SHIIs are like $400-$500 range i believe. SHIIs rock but SHIs are nothing short of awesome.
looks like the authority beat me to the post....:)

Shows you what I know. I thought INFI were the ones that commanded the highest prices, not the ATS34.

Oh, well, $850 is so far out of my range for a knife, that I won't even think about it. They sure are pretty, but I like the SHSH2 looks even more, and that doesn't mean I still would not hesitate because of the price.

They both somehow look more substantial to me than the recent HR (even though that is a beautiful and graceful knife as well). There is something in the simplicity of the SHSH* that appeals to me.

Perhaps Swamp Rat will come up with a SHSH2 twin brother replacement of the Camp Tramp (hint, hint). ;)

The old Steel Hearts are great knives! I know what you mean about the price, but I hesitated when the SHSH II was available as a current model for $247 IIRC, and then paid a lot more years later after they had been discontinued. My only regret is not buying a SHSH II and SHBM when they were selling for list prices.

This is the lesson I learned a short while ago...

Busses are bargains at list prices. I wish I knew about them when the SHSHII was $247.00... I've paid over $500.00 for the last two I bought, and I love them. I'll use them, and look for them to appreciate even after use. The SHSHII is my favorite over all the Busse and 'the others' I've owned. The handle fits my hand very well, even with the standard scales (thick spine helps), and the blade is a classic shape, begging to be used.

Here's my 'newest'

I will get one of the FSHMags from Skunk in a 'couple of weeks'... need to have the Steel Heart set... but it's going to take a while...

Best regards,
