Differences between Steel Heart E and Steel Heart II?

Good Evening Everyone-

Searched and searched, but I can't find what differentiates a Steel Heart E (as in ergonomic) from a Steel Heart II. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction?

I've got an order placed for an Assault "Pepper" Shaker already, and I'm thinking of adding a member of the Steel Heart family to the shipment (Hey, I'll save on shipping! ;)) once I can determine what makes the most sense to purchase. Is the Steel Heart E the only model currently in production of the two?

Thanks for your kind assistance!

Regards,

Blue Jays,
Here is a pic of a Steel Heart II and a Natural Outlaw.
Add an 1 1/2 to the Natural Outlaw to make it a Steel Heart E.;)
You'll probably pay $500 or more for a Steel Heart II, unless your
lucky and find one for cheap.:D Hope this helps some. I'm sure Eric has a pic of a SH II and the SHE together!!;)

Blue Jays:

Hi, I've got a Pepper Shaker on order as well, can't wait to get it :) Yep the SH-E is the only SH in production right now. It's a great user blade and will take a lifetime of abuse. The SH-II is a great knife as well, but as chip pointed out you'll probably pay between $500-$600 for it on the collector's market.

Dark Nemesis

Chip and Dark Nemesis have covered it! I did find this pic that might be helpful though:

Blue Jays, let us know when you get the Pepper Shaker:D
If you decide to get the Steel Heart E you will not be dissapointed! (or as 1whobuys pointed out it is sometimes called the Steel Heart II E).
The Steel Heart II (straight handle) feels great, but the E (ergo) model is an awesome impovement over the older model's ergonomics:cool:

Blue Jays,
Let us know your impressions once you receive the Pepper Shaker, I've also got one on order so maybe we'll get them at the same time. :D

Not to confuse you, but sometimes the SH-E is referred to only as the SH as the Ergo model is the only one in production.

Here are some more abbreviations you might see:
SH SH- Straight Handled Steel Heart
SH SHII- Straight Handled Steet Heart II
SH-E- Steel Heart Ergo
SHII-E Steel Heart II Ergo(same as SH-E, just too lazy to include the II)
ZT SH- This is actually a Steel Heart II with the Ergo handle but in 3/16" stock hence the ZT(zero tolerance)

Yours in nuclear abbreviations:D:D

Good Evening Everyone-

Holy abbreviations, Batman!

Well, the good news is that everything with the "e" designation looks, ummm, well, more ergonomic. :) That would definitely suit my needs perfectly.

So, the question now is what differentiates the Steel Heart E from the Steel Heart II E? Guess the question is kind of moot since the Steel Heart E is the only one currently in production....

I'm thinking about placing a telephone call out to Ohio to see if the kind folks in Wauseon could possibly ship a Steel Heart E along with the Assault "Pepper" Shaker in a few weeks.

Is it too crazy to think that they could match the finishes (e.g. both with a beadblasted, dull finish) as a set?

I'm a real newbie as far as Busse knives go, so let me know if I'm asking truly embarrassing questions to the group. BTW, thanks for the great photos, that certainly helps tell them apart along with your descriptions.

Blue Jays, The Steel Heart E and the SH IIe are the same.

If you ask nicely, you might get matching SH and Pepper Shakers.

I tried to post some pictures but he file was too big. sorry.

The SH-E would be a great companion to the Pepper Shaker. The Steel Heart is a knife that can fill almost any niche. Works well for heavy duty work and yet you can easily choke up on it, with that large Choil, and do more intricate work. That would sure cover you as far as large and small Busses go. :D

Let us know what the outcome is.

Good Evening 1whobuys & Eric-

Thanks for the instantaneous responses! This certainly cleared everything up as far as what-was-what with each of the new and past SH models.

I'll place a telephone call out to Marc tomorrow to see if the two knives can be sent together as an early Christmas gift to myself. :D Even if this request delays the shipment by a month or two, it shouldn't be the end-of-the-world. Maybe it'll even give Jerry a little bit of a "rest break" when working with those tiny Pepper Shakers on the grinder!

Saw the "kangaroo" sheaths at BuyBrownHolsters, which was the spark for the idea of the "matching" finishes on a pair of Busse knives.

Thanks for letting me know I wasn't making an @ss of myself with these new-to-Busse questions!

Good Evening Everyone-

Well, placed an order for a crinkle-finish "Steel Heart E" through Marc F. down in Florida. He was kind enough to see whether the SH-E will be able to join the Pepper Shaker that will soon be ground from INFI. Thanks, Marc!

He's doing some research to see if the canvas micarta grips are available in other colors besides the beige/neutral. Does anyone have any pics that can be posted if this is the case? I'd be curious to see if black canvas micarta would complement the black blade.

Gracias,

After a little use the gray or beige Canvas grips turn a nice smooth black. I have been doing a little work lately and will try to get some before and after pics to show how they can change.
