Differences in Police Models

What are the different versions of the police that have been made? I have two. A very old marked "Police Model" all stainless and a fairly new G-10 scaled version. I notice the blade grinds are radically different. Anybody have the definitive chronology of the Police model? I rather like the more spear point old version. I understand the more current one is flat ground, Like the Military, that is what my newer one looks like. Is that the current blade? Also, although the G-10 Police version has liners on both sides, it seems to flex considerably more than my Military version...any ides why? Perhaps the pivot point is closer to the end?

Hi Sgt. The current Police Model is the SS version with the sabre grind on the VG-10 blade. The model was first introduced (as the PIG) in the mid '80's. We have made many changes, mods, refinements and there are more to come. We've made them in Aluminum, Tuffram Aluminum, SS, G-10, black, etc. Currently, we're working on a batch run of CF Police.

Carbon Fiber Police! Now that woudld make for a nice, light folder w/ plenty of blade. VG-10 w/ a flat grind would be perfect.

The Grind will be the traditional sabre in VG-10. That seems to be the preferred blade style among the majority of the ELUs. 1200 pieces, one time run like the one time CF Civvie run.

Thanks all. Keep doing what your doing. Great product. Great service. Thank you...

...And why do I have this horrible "feeling" that none of these CF Police models will be "lefty" ones???.:(.

"Leftys" of the World...UNITE!!.:D.

Sal or Carlos,
I just picked up a ti-handled Police, with ATS-34 blade, and was wondering if you knew how many were made(1200??). I have the Cutlery Shoppe catalog(spring 1993) showing the knife and it says they were an exclusive to the Cutlery Shoppe. Just wondering. :)
Thanks.

Hi Blades. We made 500 fully serrated versions for the Cutlery Shoppe and then we made another 500 combo blades.

Hey Glockman. Yes, there will be some lefties in plain & serrated.

Thank-you, SIR! It looks like I'll have to start "preparing" my wife for my next (serrated "Lefty" Police) knife purchase!.:D.:D.

Another question. :)
Any idea on the weight of the CF Police?? Just wondering. Thanks!!

For those of us champing at the bit we gotta know who will be selling these CF Police? Especially the lefty models!! How do we pre-order or get on the bandwagon so that we're not left out?

Boink,
Email Patsy at www.beckscutlery.com , tell her I sent ya, and ask if you can pre-order a left hand CF Police. She should be able to help ya. She might want a deposit, no telling.

A CF Police would rock!! I've wanted a Police for a long time, but always passed it over for various reasons, mostly to do with the fact that I HATE HATE HATE the ATS-55 blade steel that they were offered in up until recently. I almost gave in and bought a nice new stainless handled one with the indented lock release and VG-10 blade, but then I'd be kicking myself due to the release of the CF model!!
