Differences in Rajah 3 Aus8 and BD1

I just received a Rajah 3 from Amazon that was supposed to be a BD1; however, there were no different markings on it than my AUS8 Rajah 3. Also, there was a sticker claiming it is the BD1 covering the area on the box that showed it was an AUS8. Have any of you all dealt with this?

Mine has 62KGC printed on the backside of the box, and has no steel type on the blade. The ones in the catalog don't appear to have steel type stamped on the blade either.

Is that the Rajah III? Would you mind posting a picture, please?

The first generation had bead-blasted blades of Japanese Aus-8A. They didn't have the blade steel marking.

The second had stone-washed blades of Japanese Aus-8A. These also didn't have the blade steel marking.

The last and current generation has stone-washed Carpenter CTS-BD1, with it marked on most of the blades.

A certain amount of the very first ones after the 2015 steel upgrade were left unmarked because of a mistake. That is why they put the labels over the original writing on some of the packages.

This applies to the Rajah II & III, and Spartan.

Mine is a 2. I bought it from another forum member. It is probably one of the originals. No pictures. Sorry, I am low-tech, and still using a 2004 desktop computer.:o

I was in a hurry on my previous post.

I meant to say Rajah II & III, plus the Spartan.

The Rajah I was completely different.

The same thing also applies to the G10 Espadas, with the exception of those having been upgraded to Carpenter CTS-XHP, along with the DLC-coating in 2015.

This is great information. Thank you.

Just saw your video. Another way to tell the difference is by looking at the placement of the lockbar pivot pin. It's the second pin behind the triad stop pin. The pivot pin for the older version is closer to the lockbar cutout in the handle than the newer version. Cold Steel made slight design changes for the new version by moving the lockbar pivot further away from the cutout so that the lock is easier to disengage. That's why the lockbar isn't interchangeable between the old and the new version. This change is also present in other popular models such as the lawman and the recon 1.

The one on top is the older Aus8 model. The difference is there, as you noted. Thank you a ton.
