;)i have a dovo shavette straight razor. it uses de blades and u snap them in half lengthways. ive had it awhile now and really like it. my question is this. since its a straight and not a de does anyone know if using different name brands of blades will change the quality or comfort of my shave? ive been using regular gillette blades and after a time of learning proper use i get the best shaves ive ever had over cartridge and de razors. but i was wondering if i can do better with a different blade? any thoughts?

I have never used one of these, but I would think that they type of blade would make a huge difference.

You're right Gollnick. I use genuine Dovo blades with the black inserts in my Shavettes. They're a lot longer than regular DE blades.

I would think that it would. Stainless with platinum coating, stainless with platinum and PTFE coating, etc. will change how it feels. The aggressiveness of a DE blade should translate to your shavette also. DE blades are pretty short, though. I'm looking at the DE blades I have and my Wosterholm & Son's 6/8 straight razor, and the difference in blade length is huge.
