Hey everyone, I am looking for a good 7-9" fixed blade I can stick into my pocket and use for just about everything. I guess the ideal length would be around 8".
I know the Esee 3 seems to be a blade forum favorite but I really dont like that big choil on a smaller knife. Not quite as important, but a super steel like 3v or m390 would sweeten the deal.

Survive Knives 3.5 fits your bill exactly. It comes in 3V or CPM 20CV which I believe is the US equivalent of M390. I have two and I am highly impressed.

I have the 20CV version. It is extremely sharp and seems to hold the edge very well. If you order it takes about 4/6 weeks to get because the company is a 3 man team. The owner, Guy, sharpens each blade before its sent out. He cant keep up with demand. You will not be disappointed.

Try a Tops Mil Spie 3 at 7 3/4" OAL, great knife, 1095 steel, 3/16 thick, indestructable.

Love that survive, Does it feel pretty good in hand? Havent heard much of SURVIVE before, is it a pretty sturdy knife?

Its awesome. After I put my kids to bed I will get you a few in hand pics. There is a Survive Sub-forum in the manufacturers forums here.

There are about a half dozen knives that size in 3V from bark River. Here's my favorite, Gunny Hunter in 3V:

(The worlds greatest steak knife.)

They have smaller also, I made the handles on this Bravo necker, also in 3v:

I do. It is a beast of a knife! Not a great slicer dye to its thickness. I wouldn't recommend it for day to day use but any time I'm hiking it's with me! A must have if you might have to cut through a tree or wall. Not good if you had to try to skin an animal.

Strider db is a win!

I had a DB and in my mind it was about as useful as a butterknife for actual cutting. I feel like it is intended to be a defensive weapon that can poke holes in skulls or pry you out of a collapsed building. GSO is the way to go! I emailed you a bunch of pics.

There are lots of knives in the makers exchange that would fit your needs. If you don't see exactly what you want, contact a maker and see if they will make it for you. That way you get something a little more special than the run of the mill production knife and you keep a knife maker knife makin' :)

The RC/ESEE's are flat enough to do well in a pocket, and they're just about the size you are after:

The CRK professional soldier fits your specifications. It doesn't have a super steel but the S35VN is pretty good and I have no complaints with it.

Although this doesn't meet all of your requirement , but I've been super impressed with this tiny , cheap different knife .
It has displaced a number of bigger , better , and more expensive knives that I own as my daily work carry knife in conjunction with my ever present Surge Multitool .

I'm quite fond of the Fallkniven WM1. I bought mine ages ago, before the 3G variant became available, but I'm happy with how VG-10 performs. It has a very comfortable handle for such a small knife (a bit under 7" OAL). If you need something larger, the F1 might work for you, although you'll need to get an aftermarket sheath since the factory one is rather bulky for pocket carry.

Check out Bark River Knife and Tool as well. They have a few very good small knives, like the Bird & Trout (8" OAL, and available in S35VN) or my personal favourite, the Fox River (8.5" OAL, available in several steels like 3V, Elmax and so on). There's a Mini Fox River in case you want something smaller. I don't know how good BRKT's stainless blades are since the only ones I've really put to the test are in A2.
