different grinds

Another vote for FFG, because its just plain awesome :) Slices like you wouldn't believe and looks pretty nice too.

Going to keep it going with another vote for FFG they just work so well for EDC I love my Spydercos for that reason

Since I have very little need for lateral strength, my top choice would be hollow grind on relatively thicker blades. The edge stays thin for longer compared to a flat grind.

For thinner blades (e.g. Opinel), FFG or slightly convex would be my choice.

For a pocket knife I don't really care what grind it has, as long as its a thinn'ish convexed egde.

Probably the Shinogi-Zukuri grind because it's on a rockstead tei s... LOL! My grail edc for now.

Real answer, flat ground, in any flavor of steel, whether it's FFG or close to 3/4 FFG like the Spydie TUFF. Hollow ground is good too but may* comprimise strength depending on how thin the blade is ground. I'm liking the cutting performance of the Boker Eskellibur but dang that blade grind is thin and dainty feeling!

Full flat grind because it slices well, is easy to clean, and looks good to me.

THIS! And the reason my daily carry knives are a pair of Spyderco Military's, one left and one right. And my "beater" knife is an old Military bought in 93 when they first came out.
93 beater on the left, with heat shrink tape on the two-screw clip.

btw: I love CPM steels. The blade on that 93 Mili has been sharpened who knows how many times, but never anything more than ultra fine diamond. THe blade outline after 20 years is not even slightly different than the two newer ones I bought in 2012.

I like using Full flat grind with a convex edge, but I don't like sharpening it. I much prefer using my ceramic UF stone over wasting sand paper.

The sebenza 25, .100" of sharpening life where the blade wont thicken up on you. That's pretty badass.

favorite user is FFG (spyderco Military)

I generally think hollow grinds look much more attractive, and they don't give up on performance when done well.

Folder: FFG with edge done on a stone.
Small-med fixed blade: FFG with edge done on a stone.
Large fixed blade: high saber with blended zero convex edge.
I also like high hollow grinds on smaller blades.

I don't really care as long as it is thin behind the edge and has a low primary grind. 98% of my knife use is just pure edc so I can't distinguish a difference between specific grinds if they are executed well opening my mail or cutting a string.
