Recently I sharpened my Speed Bump with 120 grit sandpaper on the recurve and brought the straight portion to an extremely high polished, fine edge. Has anyone else done this to their recurved knives? I really like the way it cuts this way. The toothy recurve slices things really well while the more polished finish excels at push cuts.

ok, stupid question, but do you have pics? :D sounds cool. what all have you tried cutting?

IIRC Joe Talmadge mentions sharpening different portions of a blade with different grits in his Sharpening FAQ. Anyway, what you've done makes sense to me, since the recurve portion of the blade isn't going to be used much for push-cutting and seems intended for slicing materials without them being placed on a cutting surface.
