I was just checking out prices of La Griffes at a site, and they had the black skeletonized one that everyone has, but then there was a black one, that didn't have the logo on it, and it was about $20 more expensive. It had a plain blade (it wasn't the White Water Rescue), but it was more $$$. Anyone know why? Are there different sizes or something?

Thanks

Let's talk La Griffe's

How many variations are there out there?

I know of:

EKI marked Ti BB, plain edge
EKI marked Black-T, plain edge
EKI marked Black-T, fully serrated, blunt tip "WWR"

I remember looking at one that I swear was Specwar marked, but it was the one Mary carries of that is entirely possible.

Anyone else

John

jzbigz1, here is Fred Perrin's site. As imp pointed out, BladeArt has a good selection of custom La Griffes. If you follow the "toys" link in my sig line, you'll see several of mine. Here's his contact info if you are interested in having him make something to your specs:

BTW, Fred speaks excellent English.

FYI, I was talking with Fred while placing an order about a year ago. He highly recommended an Emerson La Griffe as the right choice for a low maintenance piece in general and especially for use in wet environments.

Thanks for the heads-up, Nakano. I saw it, but with the holidays coming...

John-I don't know if you photo'd it, but the "LaGriffe" I had at Vegas was actually a "Tigerclaw". This piece was a hand ground piece done by Ernie with black oxide finish and a Specwar logo. The Tigerclaws were done before the LaGriffes, and were originally a Law Enforcement and Military item only. I got mine directly from Ernie and he told me at the time that I should hang on to it because it was a handground blade (obviously knowing that it would later be a production item). Hope this helps.

Sadly, I don't think I specifically got a picture of it.

I'll have to get a good shot of one at the next Shot or Blade Show. I'm sure Mary will have her's or I'll tag up with you.

I did see Derek today and got a good picture of the new White Water Rescue. I'll have it up in a little bit.
