Different Schrade Pattern

I bought this one awhile back on ebay. Schrade+ USA LTD. Same size as the 897 knives. Single spring, with a turkish clip and pen blade. Jigged bone handles. 2002 SFO for Moore-Handley. Serial # on bolster is 469, so there were no more than 999 of them, not including the dozen or so 000 or 0000 prototypes that could have been produced. ;)

Came packaged in a Schrade Old Timers Classics tin, and the insert is specific for this two blade arrangement. Had a $52.95 price tag inside the tin, and I paid less than half of that price for it.

Kind of a unique pattern for Schrade. Wondering if anyone has seen the same knife other than this SFO. I'm not familiar with the Old Timer Classics Series.

This was a 2000 flyer for the Old Timer Classics series. Were there others?
 
That's a great looking knife, Thawk. Never saw one before. Single spring construction makes a nice pocketable package. Round, threaded bolsters seem very appropriate. A class act.
 
Very nice Thawk more to be on the lookout for. The Turkish clip is one of my favorite blade profiles! as wellas the serpentine frame.

That one is certainly a keeper, there is no way I could stop myself from using that one though. Looks like it would be great user.
 
This was called the 897MH and shipped 8/2002. 500 where ordered

"new item for Moore Handley using out 897-pattern knife with stainless steel Turkish ckip & pen blades and LTD tang stamp. The clip blade wull have a "moore Handley, INC. 2002" blade etch. Amber jigged bone handles with a crest style shield w/Shcrade etch. Nickel silver threaded bolsers that will be serialized 1-500. We will pack this in our existing Old Timer tin with a new black vac tray and new registration card.
Cost $25.00

Very nice Rusty. I've kind of forgotten about it, probably because of the big tin, and it got rat holed away in a dresser drawer. The bone does not have a hand jigged look, but it is still a nice one. The one I have has exactly the same collateral as yours.

I don't recall ever seeing another Schrade with this blade arrangement, but Case made them, and so did Western Cutlery, although the Western 561 and 562 were a hair shorter.

The Schrade is not as slim as the Westerns, as they used a wider liner than necessary. I have single spring Schrade Muskrats that are thinner. When I bought it, I was probably oblivious to the single spring (slim profile) concept.
 
Thanks thawk! the blade arrangement drew me towards the knife as it was different than anything I had seen made by Schrade before, glad I was able to grab one. The jigged bone is similar to that on some of the LTD models of around the same time.

note I have says the pattern wasnt produced after the 40's. Looks like I'll be looking for one of these now too.
 
Hope you can get hold of one Larry! I'll keep my eyes open, you never know where one could appear.

I'd like to see one in a Cut Co. I could not find another one in the 89x pattern other than this one. I guess it would be maybe a 79xx number.
