Can someone explain the different type of locks for blade, and pro/con of them? I.e. liner lock, frame lock etc. I tried to google but couldn't really find a list with explaination and perferably pictures.

What is the type of lock I have on my gerber applegate folder?

No. The main reason being that I keep most of my knives in from-the-factory condition. A secondary reason would be that double-edge blades are illegal in enough places to make it a PITA should I decide to EDC the knife. Thirdly, there's no practical reason to do so. And finally, should you want to stab someone with the Applegate, the tip is pointy enough that sharpening the top edge seems unnecessary.

I feel stupid now for answering a question that you replaced with a different question...

It's a liner lock, meaning a liner adjacent to the blade 'bends' into place and locks the knife open. They've been around for a long time and are also refered to as "blade locks" or Walker locks depending on the brand.

Just so you guys know, He's not the idiot, I am, decided that I want answer to this one more, and will leave the knife alone.
