Different types of carry for a large knife

My preferred ways of carry in order:
1) Vertical on my pack
2) Drop loop with leg strap
3) Scout carry

12" blade length or overall knife length; there's a big difference... I just want to clarify ;):D

I routinely carry my swamprat rodent 9 in tucked in my belt as it has a compact (for it's size) taco style kydex sheath; I added a bolt/stud through one of the eyelets to function as a Sam Brown button of sorts.:D:cool:

Yeah, are we talking 12in blade, or is this Overall length?

12in OAL isn't that large, but a 12in blade length will mean at least a 16-17in OAL, which is much harder to carry on your person.

I carry my BK9 on my hip in a modified stock sheath. It carries up high on the hip (so it doesn't have a leg strap), and feels much more compact. Here is the thread I started to show what I did to it. Given, with it how it is right now, I wouldn't want to be sprinting through the woods, but for having on my belt while I chill around camp setting up tents and whatnot, it works great.

Another few options are crossdraw, scout, shoulder harness, and baldric carry.
