different Western bowie W-49?

I just recently accriued a western bowie W-49 and the guard is marked western, boulder colo. USA and the other side just says bowie. the others I've seen says W-49. any feedback on this variation would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say you have one of the knives actually made by Western before Camillus bought the company. I am sure one of the factory guys will stop in tomorrow and give you a possible date. A nice knife to own.
