I own two "original" Sebenzas. A "P" model with no clip, which is easy to identify because it has no clip! I also have a Mayonized "Original" ATS-34 that does have an old-style flat clip on it.
The "original" looks very similar to the 21, except for the flat pocket clip. I'd like to collect all of the little feature changes that help ID the difference. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I can't use my Original w/ clip to help me create the list, because it's been worked over by Tom Mayo.
Until I got the unmodified P-Sebenza, I didn't realize that Tom had ground off some material from the lockbar, to allow greater ease of opening left-handed, using the custom dual-thumb stud he added - I assumed that was how all "originals" came since I had nothing else to compare it to. It's an amazing modification!! However it's those little tweaks he does, that make me unable to compile a proper Original vs 21 list.
The only differences I know for certain are the old style pocket clip, single-sided fasteners, and lack date stamp engraving, because the engravings didn't start until 1997 and the originals were discontinued in 1995 so presumable all lack date codes.
