I own an ESEE 3, a Gerber LMF 2 and a Becker BK2. My question is should I get another ESEE 3 with serrations (mine dosnt have em) or 4 (with or without serrations)? On the other hand I like the strength the ESEE 5 has but I feel its too similar to my BK2..... Thoughts?????

I'd go 4 w/plain edge -- but then, I'm not a fan of serrations. (OK, actually I did - then I sold off the 3 after getting an izzy 2)
The 5 is a similar size and weight as the BK2, but they're fairly different in hand and in use -- not the same edge geometry at all. (the BK5 is a chopper that can cut, the BK2 is a slicer that can chop)

I think im leaning towards the ESEE 4. Now the question is, which ESEE would you choose if you could only have one????:jerkit:

If I had what you have ( I do actually-minus the Gerber) , I'd get the 4 with serrations. You don't really need the 5 , the BK covers that role. You don't have a 4 and you kinda want a serrated 3. Skip another 3 ( you already have one) and get something you don't have that's between the 3 and 5...The 4S :D

I'd go w/ a plain edge 4, it has extra reach over the 3 and thicker stock. I'm also not a fan of serrations.

Excellent choice Amigo
The Esee serrations are the only ones I like. If you get that you won't be dissapointed. Either choice is great. The 4 will fill your blade gap nicely .:)

Having what you listed I too would definately go with the 4 with serrations!
Oh and maybe orange and green? Because thats what I just ordered yesterday!! :D but whatever you choose it will be a good choice, theyre all great.

4 plain edge. Unless you like the 6 as Dizwolf mentioned. I'd definitely get a 4 though at some point.

Another vote for the 4 w/plain edge. I EDC mine under an untucked shirt every day and it's perfect. This is one awesome knife. The extra thickness in the blade and handle is amazing, hard to not fondle it all day! You won't be disappointed with the 4!

The RC-5 is really a different knife and somewhat unique. It was my first RAT (it was still RAT when I bought it). I didn't have anything in my collection that was near as beefy or bullet proof and since I do fly, its my companion in the cockpit of my little plane, strapped to my right leg. I know I could cut through aluminum or plexiglass with it and still have a great survival tool. However, for every day bushcraft, hiking, backpacking, etc. the 3 or 4 is better. I like how the 3 handles the best for its handle size, but the 4 gives more versatility. While I started with the 5, I picked up the 3 and 4 shortly thereafter. You will probably do the same.

After all that, I also say 4!

the 5, there is somthing about that damn blade that I love....

it also has special powers

i think i asked this question once. and now i own the 3 and the 4 and am waiting for a 6, and i know the 5 wont be to far off. these knives are like potato chips cant have just one.

i really need to get a 5 its calling to me:eek::D

Absolutely:thumbup: I'm glad i got one. There are others in the line up that are more practical depending on your use but screw it! Once I put it out of the kydex, I can't think of one reason NOT to have it.
