Dig deep...music video question from the 80s

Alrighty, then...so I'm out on e-mule, happily collecting all the music videos that made my earlier years vaguely surreal, and I think, "OH! There was that one with the vampire chick I should get!" Only, I can't for the life of me think of what the song was. So, I come to y'all. The Mavens. The Gurus of Trivia. Masters of the UTTERLY Obscure.

Here's what I remember of it:

Woman singing...vampire woman out and about the city...hunting...song goes along, and toward the end, the police come into what appears to be a huge warehouse, and find dozens, maybe hundreds, of dessicated corpses hung upside-down in cocoons. The vampire woman is nowhere to be found, and it has a very creepy, macabre and surreal feel, as the police are investigating by flashlight-beam (remember the 80s, kiddies? Before we had 'light switches?' :p )

So, I had thought it was Laura Branigan's "Self Control," but as I've looked online, that seems to be coming up a miss. I remember it being a fairly mainstream artist, but I've Googled until my eyes bled, and just can't seem to find her.

So, does anyone have a clearer memory of the 80s video scene than me? If so, maybe you can help me out!!

Ozzy.....Shot In The Dark?

Nah, "Shot in the Dark," while a semi-interesting concept, was much later on the video scene. The one I'm looking for came out around '83 or '84...we didn't have MTV at the time, and so I saw it on one of those "Friday Night Videos" shows.

Also, I'm sure it was a woman...Ozzy, while he has a surprisingly wide range (for a man who slurs his speech almost to the point of unrecognisability) doesn't quite have the feminine touch down. :D

Thanks for the shot, though...keep thinking, guys!! I KNOW someone else besides me, my wife, and my sister has to have seen this thing...

I saw it once. All I remember is that she had short blonde hair.

Yep!! That's the one...she had short, white-blonde hair (in a page-boy type haircut). I seem to remember her wearing some sort of white plastic raincoat during part of the video. All of this is in the video, mind you. I don't think whoever sang the song actually appeared in the video.

So far, we've ruled out these people:

Laura Branigan (well, at least pretty sure it's not her)
Pat Benatar
Sheena Easton
Lita Ford
Joan Jett
Stevie Nicks (HA!!)

And I'm sure it was a woman, so male artists are out...even Boy George and Michael Jackson... :p :D

At least I know I didn't hallucinate through the WHOLE decade...someone else has seen it!! You DID see it, right?!? You're not just humoring me...? Okay, well, it's time for my meds, now...

Ok , Berlin was the first band that came to mind for me.
I guarantee it wasn't Lita Ford , her "popularity" never came to be except for a song with Ozzy.
A far throw here but you got The Motels , Missing Persons , Cindy Lauper (ughh) , Madonna (double ughh) ... umm....
on my first cup of coffee here...
I'll think...

OK, as a DIEHARD Lita Ford fan I gotta point out "The Renegades", her and a young Joan Jett together, they ROCKED!

The reason I tossed her out here was that one of her early "punk" albums has her on the cover with the platinum blonde short hair and wierd vinyl outfit, sort of what he described.

Your right though, it's probably not her.

Debbie Harry? from blondie? I don't remember ever seeing that video though

I watched MTV religiously when it first came out, and I haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about. Are you sure it isn't from a movie or something?

I think you mean The Runaways, unless The Renegades is something I missed out on completely.

As far as the video goes...it does ring some bells. Muffled, rusty bells but bells none the less.

Berlin came to my mind too, but I'm not sure. I can guarantee it wasn't Blondie. Debbie Harry's first solo album with the H.R. Gieger cover art came out in the mid-80's but I can't remember any of the videos.

There were so many flash in the pan groups that got heavy MTV play back then and never appeared again and it could be one of them.

The 80s is really just a time in our history that should just be forgotten. Besides the shoulder pads and bad music and berlin wall and the day of my birth there's not much else.

David Bowie produced a soundtrack for the film "The hunger" a 1983 release.

Maybe that would be a good place to look. Old Bowie vidoes.

BTW is that "knife content"?:D

There was a lot of great music made in the 1980's. It's just that most of it wasn't played on MTV or mainstream radio. I know. I was there. :D

The song was "Night Moves" by Marilyn Martin.

Yep, that's it. I had forgotten all about her. Maybe because she seems like such a Pat Benatar clone. Maybe because I was listening to the Dead Kennedys. She has a nice voice though.

Watch it here.

That's it, man been a long time since they were a duo, I think they both were barely 20 at the time.

I saw Lia Ford on VH1's "I Love The 80's" recently. What a flashback.
