I've been looking for original sheaths for my 107 and 118 with no luck( both pre-1968, I think original sheaths were snap flap). I've contacted Buck and searched all over the internet and the big auction site. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help. If you happen to have any spares let me know. Thanks

Its funny, the knives are what people collect, but the sheaths are harder to find than the knife. I guess its because leather wears out, cracks or you just plan loose the sheath. I have knives from the 40s that I will probably never find a correct sheath for.

Yeah I know. My dad gave me a bunch of his old knives including a stag 110, wood 110, 124, 107, 118 and a 106 hatchet, all have sheaths but the 107 and 118. I figure I'll start looking now and maybe I'll be able to find them before I hand them down to my son.

Flap over sheaths start about 1964. Prior to that they had a keeper strap. The 107 never had a flap sheath, it always came in a pouch sheath. The 107 type knife shows up about 1973 as part of the Empress Trio cutlery set but not as the 107 with a model number and sheath until the 1976 catalog.

Correct vintage will take awhile but they do turn up in the bay occasionally. Bidding has always been surprisingly high for good early sheaths. I go to gun shows and always dig thru those boxes of old holsters.... sometimes find a nice knife sheath buried under the old gun leather. If you don't care about vintage, the 107 will fit into a 102 sheath loosely. The blade is about the same length but the knife is much thinner overall. There is a custom 107 pouch type sheath listed on an auction site at this very moment. The 118 will be a regular again in 2014 so look for a new 118 sheath from Buck later in the year.

Well, DSS, I have a 107 with a flap over sheath. But it's not proofed
that the sheath belongs to the knife because there is no number on it.
The sheath is too small for a 102, that I don't have an idea for
what knife else the sheath could be made.

Cooper, it may be that I have one more sheath for a 107. I need a
sheath for a white bone 102 (Bass Pro?). If you like we can make a swap.

Haebbie, is your extra sheath a open top or with flap? Do you need a new 102 sheath like the one buck has on their site? It looks like they carry a black and brown/mahogany. I'm not familiar with the 102. A trade sounds good though.

Cooper, my extra sheath is an open one.

The 102 sheath is not the burgundy that Buck shows on their web site.
It seems to be made of brown nubuck leather. I could order a sheath
from Bass pro, but they want to have roudabout 35 USD for shipping.
I don't want to pay more for the shipping than for the ware. Do you
have a Bass pro shop near by? Bass pro has no shops in Europe.

I may, will look tomorrow!

Sorry; not either one; I got a bunch when the San Diego plant closed; even some prototypes done for 110's; I will photograph sometime. Most of mine
are 120 or 124 which are pretty common it seems.

BG42 collected vintage fixed blade sheaths.

Unfortunately, he was given the boot from BF.

You might try contacting him on the back channel if you can get contact information.

Haebbie, I really appreciate the offer but wouldn't shipping to Europe would cost more than the sheath no matter what? BTW does your sheath have 107 stamped on the back? No Basspro near me either but maybe we can work something out.

dctex99, thanks for looking and I would like to see the pics sometime.

oregon, thanks for the info, I'll see if I can find his info.

you guys are awesome!

I have shipped things to Europe, and farther.... Australia, India etc...they all cost about the same to ship to.
For some reason it costs more to ship to Canada
A sheath is pretty light.
I think it would be only about $8 to ship it overseas from the post office......

Cooper, there's a 107 stamp on the backside of the sheth. If you like I can take one or two pictures. It would be great if you help me to get the 102 sheath. I would take the shipping of the 107 sheath to you.

Haebbie, pics would be great. I've been looking at the 102 sheaths and the only colors I find are black and the brown/burgundy. Do you happen to know the cheapest way to ship?

I also think a lot of times collectors have the sheaths in a different location than the knives. They pass, and the family doesn't think to marry the 2 up again since they don't know anything about the collection. I know my Father bought several knives from an estate years ago and none of them came with any sheaths. So, that may be a small % of them which have been lost over the years.

Sometime in the late 80's Buck offered the 107 with a flap over sheath. It was stitched on both sides. I've seen a 107 sheath like this. I've not seen a 107 in the flap sheath that Haebbie shows. The top one in his photo. Still, he finds things in his area that we don't see here in the states. DM

Yes, David, sometimes I have the impression that Buck delivers products to Germany that they don't like to sell in the U.S.A.
For example the 908 Bowie that was fitted with the 184 blade and Harley Davidson etching for selling in the States. In Germany Buck sold the overrun without any etching. But the most knives and sheath I bought in the United States, the 107 with the flap over sheath too. I am sure I bought a good part of the US Postal Service because I paid so much for the shipping.
