I got the NMSFNO this Friday (sage/tan very subdued which I like) and took it Crappie Fishing a Lake Eufaula here in OK. If any of you own boats you know their is always issues - My battery cable had eaten though bottom of pontoon so I had to replace cable and had no real tools. I used it to chop a 4 gauge battery wire a bunch of times rewiring my starter battery and it cut clean and quick each time. Then I used it to strip leads. Then I took a hammer and used Busse to crimp heavy duty connectors on cable by hammering knife down on leads/connector. Then I used it like a putty knife to mix up some JB weld.

Everything is still sorta sharp but I would like to send it off and get a convex edge on her.

No pictures it never happened! But nice story any way, now, did you catch anything?! Let's see yer' stringer, never mind the sinkin' boat!

I dont have a digital camera nor would I know first thing how to get them in computer. only high tech I know is GPS and Fish Locater and yes we caught the shit outta them like 3 full ice chests full until front moved in Saturday. Then we just drank crown and told lies on Sunday,

If you are going to abuse the busse and make it a real user, just learn to convex it by hand your self. It really is not very hard. You take some sand paper on top of a mousepad (I use a glass pane behind the mousepad so I have something really flat to tape it all down over).

barkriver knife and tool website has a tutorial, and there are a bunch of old threads on here that tell how to do it as well.

Then, when you mess up the convex edge, you will know how to redo it with the sand paper to fix any nicks in the edge etc.

I have convexed all of my Busse and other knives.

Thank you sir good advice. Abuse? Maybe I'm that way with stuff guns, knives, trucks doesn't matter I eat them.. I broke my last knife (and a lot of others too) a D2 Ka-Bar... Used it all the time until it just snapped when I was prying entry device back door to my shop off because it was stuck. If Busse holds up it's worth it's price and more. I think it will from video I've seen.

Thanks a lot. Bigfatty already hooked me up with the Bark River link but your thread answered a few more Qs.

One question I do have is what's the best way to get rid of the "melt down" on spine and make it flat. I think this would be better for hammering down on knife. I slipped a couple times this weekend.

I would like to add a gut hook too.

Thanks for that link!
I never saw it before...
VERY informative.
I bookmarked that page.
Thanks

(*would be wonderful if it was linked in a sticky somewhere*)

You're welcome. Glad I could be of some assistance.
