I decided to pick up a Kopa for office carry. I opted for the carbon fiber variant, and I have to say, I'm pretty pleased. It seems to be a very well-made little knife. I wouldn't want to subject it to hard use, but I suspect it will serve admirably as an office-duty gentleman's folder.
I love the flat-ground VG-10. Easy to sharpen, slices like mad. I'd have like to seen the spine done in a swedge, like the Calypso variants, though. The action is smooth, and the lock is easy to use. The handle feels very nice. It fills the hand well for a smaller knife, and is generally quite comfortable. The knife has a good amount of heft for its size, but it's comfortable to carry.
This is my first bit of carbon fiber, and I like it. I can't stop tilting the little guy in the light. I think Spyderco struck a good balance with the amount of luster they put on it; it looks good, but I don't think it should show scratches as easily as a high gloss might. Time will tell.
All in all, the Kopa is a winner in my book. The CF is classy but not too flashy, beautiful in an understated way, a little bit techy. It's like it's wearing a little dinner jacket
I'd still like to see a Kopa with tungsten or depleted uranium scales. The weight alone would be quite interesting (I know, dream on.) It'll still be nice to see what Spyderco puts out next:thumbup:
ETA- The whole 1 of 600 thing is nice to know, too. I am now one of the elite, and you may envy me accordingly
