Digging?

Hello everyone,
I was reading on the Chris Reeve Knives website and in the description for the Project 1 & 2 it says the knives are perfect for digging, what types of ground would you be digging in with these blades? Wouldn't a stone damage the blade?

Solders will dig with a knife in a pinch. A dull knife is worth the trade off when a hole is your only cover. Even with an e-tool, a knife is handy to cut roots and what not.
