Digicam Military?

I was wondering, are there two different Digicam Millies out there?

I was just looking at some on-line pictures of Millies with the digicam scales, thinking about adding one to my collection. On the Spyderco website I only see one listed, with a green "woodlands" color digicam which matches most of the photos I see at on-line retailers and auction sites. On the other hand, I have seen a couple pictures of what looks like a more grey digicam, similar to the current "universal" color adopted by the US military.

So, are there actually two color digicam patterns, or is it just bad photography making the green look grey on some of them?

Thanks!

It should look more like the U.S Army ACU Pattern, I am in the Army, and I carry one with the Black Blade while I am on duty.

IIRC It's the ACU Digicam, which will look slightly different under different lighting conditions. People had pictures of their foliage green D2 paramilitarys that looked almost brown.

The digicamo is translucent and will look different under different lighting conditions. Look below, this is the same knife.

There is only one digicamo out now

This is an example of what I was referring to:

Now, comparing that to the pic on the Spyderco website

The first looks much more grey, and the second much more green. The first one also seems a better match for the current US Army digital camo:

Is that color difference in the two handles just due to variations in the lighting or is there a second Millie camo pattern floating around?

I actually like the greyer look of the first pic, and I've been trying auctions with a matching picture, so I just wanted to check if I was wasting my time looking for an optical illusion. I would also hate to buy what I thought was a "Grey" digicam Millie and unexpectedly end up with a "Green" one. :(

The color in person is a lot like the first picture, the second could have either used a different type of G-10 (production prototype) or it could just be the lighting.
The web pictures for the D2 millies and para looked very green too, but in person it's a really nice shade, not too green, almost a green gray.

Most photos from most official sources are either retouched or done by a professional photographer, which means that they will not look like photos taken by ordinary users (much like fashion models in magazines.) That's why people think that there are different colours. And as this G-10 seems to be translucent it is much more likely to differ due to different lighting... ;)

Actually it is translucent.

And translucent by definition means: diffusing light; permitting the passage of light.

Man those digi cams look nice (my one is sitting on a boat/plane on it's way to spyderco :() but seriously, if they looked any better I would marry mine...

5.56, Thanks for the photos, but I know what translucent g-10 is. My point was that because it is translucent it is much more likely to look different in photos (because of the different ambient lightning). ;)

Each individual knife has a different camo pattern; no two are the same. The camo pattern is on the surface of the G-10. It's translucent underneath.

The camo cloth is inside the layers of G10 so you not need to worry with it wearing off.

The pics on the Spyderco website are obviously 'optimized' to make the pattern look as good as possible.

In reality the pattern is not as tight as all that, and those colours are not an accurate reflection of the real stuff.

Here's a pic of mine (again!) :p
