Digital camera/filters question?

I ordered a Sony DSC-W1 camera today, as it is reasonable priced and the abilities vere outstanding. It may seem off topic but I want this camera to take my knives pictures too. I am used to SLR machines so I wanted a camera having some adjustable/manual configurability. My question is, there are some filters (polarization, neutral density, special effects) optional, should I buy them to take decent knife pictures, do they worth 30$ for this trade?

Proper knife photography is not done with filters or other special effects. What you have to learn is to use lighting properly. Direct lighting is bad , you want diffused lighting [ I use sheets of translucent plastic in front of the light sources] or reflected light [such as white cardboard]

Thanks sirs,
Steve, that is very informative,
thanks and that simply anwers my question.
