Our local phone company is now offering digital TV over a DSl line. I was curious if anyone else is using that type service now and what you think of it?
Out where I live we do not have cable TV so satellite is our only option and I am getting a bit tired of their prices and very bad service. We allready have the DSl line so the additional cost for it is very low compared to satellite.

Lame...DSL is teh slow. Makes no sense to add TV signals to ratty ol' phone lines.

But if you can't get a proper cable, I guess that'll have to hold you over until FTH finally shows up (fiber to the home).

DSL slow ?? What is slow ?Consider that there are various DSL systems of various speeds. What do you consider minimum speed for TV ??

What do you consider minimum speed for TV ??

DVD transfers at about three megabits/sec. I've had video conferences at 384KHz and it's ok for a video confidence, but I'd hate to watch a movie. Minimum for NTSC-quality TV is probably not to much less than three megabits/second.

I have had this service for 6 months now and it is not bad for analog tv, my internet speeds are 8mbs download and 1mbs upload when tested here

I am skeptical when hdtv comes out, but right now its fine, no sharing signal like cable, you get your own line into your house(like your phone line)

I can recommend it for analog tvs

DSL can go up to 20 Mbit/s. For TV over DSL you need a bit less than 4 Mbit/s.
